No stranger to metals, Raymond has worked through multiple disciplines gaining a deep knowledge of the medium.
He grew up in the coastal town of Merimbula on the Sapphire coast. Moving to Melbourne his first undertaking was an apprenticeship as a motor mechanic, he then moved into specialist welding which led him to furniture making and sculpture.
Raymond completed Gold and Silversmithing at RMIT refining his design sensibility and fine metal techniques. On graduation he opened Black Finch studio where he has been producing jewellery full time for over a decade.
Raymond honours the experience of working with clients through significant life events. He is attuned to your needs bringing a flexibility to the design process and a sensitivity to the conversation.
Raymond’s practice as a jeweller is constantly evolving incorporating new techniques and tools. Setting all the stones, working closely with the materials Raymond balances the importance of function and the beauty of form in each and every piece.
