At Black Finch, custom design is where your story takes form. We work closely with you from first conversation through to final piece, shaping something that feels personal, enduring, and distinctly yours.

Private Consultation
We start with a private consultation to explore your inspirations, stone preferences, and aesthetic direction to understand what you’re drawn to and how you want your piece to feel. Whether you arrive with a fully formed vision or only a loose idea, our team will guide you through the possibilities with expert advice and creative direction.
Consultations are available in person at our Melbourne flagship or virtually for interstate and international clients.

Stone Sourcing
If your design includes gemstones, we will curate your selection of ethically sourced sapphires and natural diamonds based on your preferences, budget, and overall design direction. Your heirloom stones may also be incorporated where suitable.

Sketching & Quotation
Once your concept and stones are refined, we begin developing your design. You’ll receive detailed sketches that bring the piece into form, allowing proportions, textures, and settings to be carefully considered before production begins. This stage is collaborative and refined together, ensuring every detail feels resolved, wearable, and unmistakably yours.

Step four
Handcrafting Your Piece
Once your quote has been approved and a minimum 50% deposit has been received, your piece moves into production. Your jewellery is expertly handcrafted in our Melbourne workshop by our master artisans, typically taking 8 to 12 weeks. The remaining balance is due once your piece is complete.

Engraving & Glyphs
Our signature Magic Glyphs, hand-drawn by Creative Director Davina Adamson, are intimate symbols etched into gold, a private lexicon of meaning. Select from existing motifs or develop a spell of your own.
