With over twenty years of experience, Raymond’s principles around design, stone setting, and the refined execution of each piece shape how the team approaches everything Black Finch creates.
Raymond founded Black Finch in 2007 shortly after completing his studies in Fine Art Gold and Silversmithing at the School of Art, RMIT. Drawn to the poetics of material and the desire to make objects that are both beautiful and meaningful, he was compelled by jewellery’s ability to mark significant moments in people’s lives. From the beginning, his goal was to create high-end, bespoke work designed to last, both physically and emotionally.

Davina Adamson
Creative Director, Lead Designer & Co-Owner
With a background in visual art and creative writing, and over two decades of experience in small business, Davina brings a considered, values-led approach to design, leadership, and creative direction.
She joined Black Finch in 2017, working alongside founder and master jeweller Raymond de Zwart to shape the studio’s creative direction. Today, Davina leads product design and the visual and emotional world of Black Finch, guiding the brand with both precision and intuition. Her work is informed by curiosity, collaboration, and a deep respect for material, story, and process. Outside the studio, her interests include painting, writing, progressive business theory, and ending the day with a good sauna.

At Black Finch, we design and make jewellery differently. We don’t believe in mass production, overstock, or endless repetition. Instead, we work in small runs, one-of-a-kind pieces, and made-to-order designs that respect materials, time, and the people who wear them.
This way of working means each Black Finch piece is limited by nature. Often unrepeatable. Always considered. When you invest in one of our designs, you’re choosing something made with care, created in small numbers, and shaped to last well beyond the moment it enters your jewellery box.
