Most genuine gold pieces will be stamped with a karat mark (like 9ct, 14k, or 18k) or a hallmark certifying the metal. Still unsure? Feel the weight, real gold has a distinct heaviness, and check for any fading or discoloration, especially around the clasp or edges, which could hint at plating.
