Kaleidoscopes of stars above burning hot, the molten core beneath our feet. We are creatures of heat and light. Hanging planets in the distance that rain diamonds to the rare entity that is our earth, jewellery is a celebration of our universe and its mineral magic.

Gold and gemstones become traces of planetary history; materials shaped by pressure, time, and energy. Each piece reflects the idea that jewellery is not separate from the universe, but part of it: fragments of cosmic matter brought into human scale to be worn, held, and remembered.

Drawn from geological process, the mineral richness of earth, and stellar phenomena, the collection translates forces we can barely picture into intimate forms scaled for the hand and the body.

 

Black Finch Creative Director and designer, Davina Adamson, speaks to the ideas, references, and making decisions behind the collection, and how they arrived at wearable form.

 

What or who is this collection an ode to?

For the lovers and the dreamers. The mysteries that envelop us, the materials that come from beyond the stars where eons are condensed. This collection is a perfect way to encapsulate cosmic love and our connections to our origins because 'we are stardust'....

What sets the Everywhereness Collection apart?

We are offering incredibly rare stones such as a two-tone pink sapphire, cut as a beguiling soft tapered baguette, in the One of a Kind Solene Sapphire and Diamond Ring; and a 2.56ct lilac sapphire with incredible clarity, in the One of a Kind Meridian Sapphire Ring. Elsewhere, sapphires are set into baroque pearls for the first time.

Throughout, a heightened attention to surface and craft. Hand-carving, a heavy emphasis on texture, and new design techniques and detailing such as eye settings and diamonds that flow like ribbons down the side of our One of a Kind Paragon Diamond Solitaire Ring.

If you had to define Everywhereness in one sentence, what would it be?

The mysteries of the universe, condensed into wearable form.

How long did the collection take to develop?

These collections always take many months to develop, largely because we're rarely repeating ourselves. We invariably experiment with new making techniques, new clasps, new finishes and of course building the story and breathing life into the collection as a whole. A joy of a new collection for the team involves both design and manufacturing challenges. These new elements then come to influence future work and build on what we can offer across our design services. They are an opportunity to expand the Black Finch design lexicon and push possibilities.
