Aside from serving our lovely clients our team have multi-dimensional lives that feed into their creative roles at Black Finch! The team all have an arts background, an intuitive hiring policy that makes for a creative and dynamic workplace...

 

We asked Raymond what he loves about his role across all things design and creation at Black Finch...

"I love making things with meaning.  I have spent my life making so many different objects from the functional to the aesthetic. Starting out as a mechanic, making sculpture, and furniture and then refining my skills in fine jewellery I have been close to all elements of making from the industrial to the creative. So much in the world is produced en masse. I feel very lucky and privileged to find myself doing the exact opposite" 

A rarely known fact about Raymond...

His first job after moving to Melbourne was repairing garbage trucks

He has ridden his motorbike to every pie shop in Australia....well nearly

 

Davina reflects on her best loved moments at Black Finch Jewellery...

"Custom design means endless fluidity and diversity. Being close to people in really heightened moments in their existence is so powerful, it is literally births deaths and marriages.  The quality of emotion and the intensity of people's joy when they receive their power piece in the form of a custom made jewel is incredible to be a part of."

"The jewellery and the stories. I love that every conversation results in a unique outcome, a little of the person imbued in the object—colours, taste, symbols. I love the craft of making heirlooms—objects to wear for a lifetime. I feel so lucky to work for a small business it allows space for strong values, learning and play."

She is on a perpetual hunt to find the platypus who live in the Merri Creek!!

Skye lets us in on what inspires her about working at Black Finch....

'What I love most about my job is believing in what we create; the jewels and the experiences.  The incredible wearable sculptures, small pieces of art that live on the body.  The experiences we create with our clients, dreaming, designing, transforming the personal into the material.  I’m also very proud to work within a business that has such high standards of environmental responsibility'
